I'm Ivanna, a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Astrobiology (CAB) in Torrejón, Spain. Before joining the CAB, I completed my PhD in 2024 at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Garching, Germany, and the University of Lyon, France. If I'm not behind my laptop learning about galaxies, you will likely find me walking my dog, dancing tango or exploring our planet.
You can find more information about my academic path in my CV.
I use multi-wavelength observational data mainly from VLT/MUSE and ALMA to study the evolution of distant galaxies. I study the gas around galaxies (the circumgalactic medium, on >10 kpc scales) and how it is linked to the baryonic properties of galaxies in the gas within them (the interstellar medium, on <10 kpc scales). I am particularly interested in galaxies at "cosmic noon" (only 3-5 billion years after the Big Biang), the epoch during which all the physical processes involved in driving star formation were likely at their peak.
While carrying out my research, I am fortunate to (have) collaborate(d) closely with bright researchers such as Irene Shivaei, Gergö Popping, Michele Ginolfi and Nicolas Bouché.
